Why is TikTok banned in the US
President Donald Trump of the state USA issued executive orders that will be effectively banning the major app in the US market which are introduced by a Chinese company known by the name, “TikTok”. Although it was still not clear if he had any legal authority to ban the app TikTok from the United States.
In this order, it was clearly stated that the Americans will be restricted from carrying out any relation with the company of TikTok. This means that the companies and people of the States can not advertise on the mentioned platform which offers them to download through app stores or to enter in-licensing agreements with the app.
Why did the government banned TikTok in the US?
The executives of the US government ordered that the app, TikTok should be banned from U.S markets due to national security concerns and systems. Whereas, it was clear that there was no threat to the personal information to weapons or any systems of intelligence. But the concern is only around the data privacy and security of data. Which led to TikTok being banned in the US.
TikTok is a popular app among teenagers for producing short videos, with an estimation of about 100 million users in the U.S and much more around the whole globe. Just like any other social networking app, TikTok collects an ample amount of information about its users.
So the government took their concerns towards the political safety of the States which might get exposed to the Chinese government and will be used by them to blackmail the US officials. The officials were also worried that the app portrays political speech which might lead to misinformation of several things. That is one of the reasons why is TikTok banned in the US.
TikTok banned in the US changed nothing
Nothing has changed even after a year. The company called “ Byte Dance” still owns the app TikTok, after the first four months of this year new 7 million users have joined TikTok from Us. Trump is gone which means that the new government will decide and make the new decision of unbanning the app TikTok.
The fact that TikTok was banned in the United States had no effect; in fact, many TikTok users continued to use the app despite the fact that the world had progressed significantly.
Teenagers used a virtual private network (VPN), which allowed them to use any app that was not available in their region, but which they were able to access by changing their region location. Instead, the number of TikTok users is increasing on a daily basis. The government’s decision to ban TikTok in the United States was merely a formality to assuage their concerns.
An outright ban on TikTok was unnecessary from the start, according to the company Bedance, who explained that the company has stated that it does not have access to information about people outside of China and that it does not sell information about its users to the Chinese government.
However, for Trump and the United States government, this was not sufficient justification. Their primary concern was the security of their political systems and their respective countries. In yet another instance, teenagers who were obsessed with this app were disappointed when it was banned from being used in the United States.
Some believed that the Chinese company Byte Dance would be able to persuade the United States government and that it would be able to deny the technological injustice that both the Chinese government and the United States government appeared to be intent on imposing. However, others were skeptical. But this was not the case in this instance.
